Got a good start Thursday morning.  A much better drive because we finally got south of the storm line.  We arrived in Brunswick, GA early afternoon.  Stayed at Blyth Island Reginal Park.  A very pretty park.  Big sandy sites with lush vegetation.

It rained overnight but Friday was a beautiful day.  We played tourist today.  Drove around St. Simons Island until we found the visitors center.  While gathering brochures I spoke with the young lady at the counter and asked what she recommended if you only had one day.  We followed her advice and visited the Lighthouse Museum , Fort Frederica and Christ Church.

The St. Simons Island Lighthouse and the area around it is so beautiful.   This is an actual working lighthouse.  Because the weather was clear we had great views from the parapet on top.

Fort Frederica is one of those little historical gems that you never heard about in history class.  It is a National Monument that preserves the archaeological remnants of a fort built in the mid-1700s to protect the early colony of Georgia from the Spanish. There are only some foundations and a few ruins here. However, through the marvel of a smartphone and a QR Scanner app, you can hear all about the fort and surrounding village along the tour path.

We visited Christ Church to view the amazing stained glass windows.

After a pleasant lunch at Toucan's Ale House we headed back to the campground.  Just before we are about to turn into the road leading to the park we hear a sound like someone hit something. But it was us, spewing steam from the truck.  The other heater core hose blew.  Two hoses, two breakdowns at the entrance of a campground.  This time we are not within walking distance of the coach and both of our phones are dead from taking a lot of pictures and the charger in the truck was not working.  A very nice couple stopped to offer help.  They took me back to the coach where I plugged in both phones, call AAA to set up a tow.  The same nice couple knew I was going to have to get back to Bruce so they gave me their number.  Once i had things set up I sent them back with Bruce's phone, the solar charger and a working cord.  Then the waiting game began.  The tow truck came quickly, took Bruce and the truck to a shop that was still open.  Unfortunately, they could not acquire the little plastic  piece needed to fix the truck.  Bruce got a taxi home.  Next morning we packed up, gassed up and picked our not running pick-up.  Towed it to Bradenton.  The rest of Saturday and Sunday were quiet days for us.  Redskins won, but we had no coverage on TV and no Sirius radio channel.  We went to the pool Sunday afternoon and were talking to some residents.  He turned us on to a mobile mechanic that was staying here at Horseshoe Cove.  After Bruce found him he said he would come by our site Monday morning.  He didn't have a part either, but fix the problem by improvising.  He didn't even want to charge us but Bruce insisted on at least a tip. Now that we are mobile again we did some shopping (a new phone cord).  Having some thunderstorms. This week is supposed to be rainy. Everyone is talking about Matthew, but this rain has nothing to do with him.  We are seeing ants in the bedroom.  Florida is famous for ants.  Off to Walmart for ant stuff.  Cali is acting strange.  Spending a lot of time in the litter bbox.  Think we will be looking foe vet soon.
