Class is Over in Shipshewana

Well, it has been an interesting week here in Shipshewana, Indiana.  More for Bruce than me.  He has been working very hard everyday at class and is learning a lot of new stuff and finding out how much he already knows.  We will have a lot of work to do if we want him to become an RV Inspector because the NRVIA takes this very seriously and only wants professionals and well trained inspectors. He will have more classes in November, has to do quite a few full inspections and there is a good deal of continuing education even after he is certified.  Then there is the business side of it all.
Guess that's where I will have to contribute. I have a lot to learn too.

Graduation! On to the next step.

Last night we decided  to eat at a local restaurant, the 5 and 20 Country Resturant.  It was good, plain cooking.  But the coconut cream pie was excellent and I had some yellow cake batter ice cream.  Nuff said.  After such a filling meal we decided to walk some of it off.  We walked the Pumpkinvine Nature Trail for just a little way.  While on the trail we found this memorial to Chief Shipshewana.

If you like Flea Markets, antiques and hand crafted items this is the area for you.  Unfortunately for someone like me who is trying to downsize, shopping is the last thing I want to do.  The good thing is that the best cheese and sweets are everywhere.  The bad thing is I keep finding them.  When you put long, hot days with nothing much to do with Yoder's Meat and Cheese market just down the road my Weight Watchers is going down the drain. Have a lot of work to do when I get back to Maryland.

I did try to do as much walking as possible (though it was just too hot to do much).  Today I walked around town for a bit.  It is very unique to watch traffic here. You will see cars, buggies, tractor trailers, bicycles, RVs all taking turns at an intersection.  I was always amused about dodging the residue left everywhere by the horses.

Tomorrow will be our only day to be tourists.  We may go the to local county fair.  Hope the weather treats us a little better.
