Catching UP

Since we really didn't have any WiFi for the rest of our trip I didn't get around to posting anything about our last few days on the road for our July trip.  Once this stage of Bruce's Inspection training was over we got to be tourists for a few days.

Saturday evening we invited Ray and Sandy, our next door neighbors and one of Bruce's classmates to join us for an evening at the Elkhart County Fair.  We had funnel cake dipped bacon with chocolate.  Next I had deep fried bacon and peanut butter balls and Bruce had a double pork and cheese burger.  topped it all off with ice cream. Love those county fair food booths.  Foreigner was preforming and we were looking forward to their show.  We got to listen to about five songs (they were really good) before the heavens opened and it really stormed.  Ended up being an early night but we still had a good time.

Back on the road bright and early Sunday morning.   We just did an overnight at the Ross County Fairgrounds in Cillicothe, Ohio.  1400 campsites and we were there alone.

Another early start Monday morning.  This time we stopped Farmington, Pennsylvania.  We stayed at Benners Meadow Campground.  Nice, but too expensive.  This is a campground that we have passed a million times on the way to my Grandmother's house when I was small and on our many travels back home to visit Mom and Dad.  I grew up just a stone's throw away in Hopwood, PA.  It seems that you overlook the things in your own back yard.  That's how I felt about Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water."Well we finally went to see this famous house on Tuesday.  It was as beautiful as I always heard it was.  I just want to sit on the bottom step with my feet in the stream and read a good book.

Monday evening my Brother, Dave, and his wife, Roberta, met us for dinner at the Braddock Inn.
Tuesday the, and their daughter Ashley, Her son Logan and boyfriend Travis stopped by the campsite to roast some hot dogs.  Had a wonderful time catching up with each other.  It's great seeing family.

We spend the day Wednesday visiting Fort Necessity and Jumondville Glen.  This is where a young George Washington began his career and was the beginning of the French and Indian War.  It was not a good beginning for Mr. Washington but just goes to show anything can be overcome. We hiked through the glen and were treated to a guided talk and an example of a black powder firing of a rifle at the Fort.

We were back home on Thursday July 28. Next is a trip with family to Virginia.
